Introduction of Ayurved

आयुषो वेद आयुर्वेदः ।

Ayurveda can be defined as that which imparts knowledge and attainment of life.

Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” The name “Ayurveda” is derived from two words in Sanskrit, “ayu” meaning “life” or “longevity” and “veda” meaning “science” or “sacred knowledge.” Ayurveda’s definition therefore roughly translates as “the science of longevity” or “the sacred knowledge of life.

Ayurveda is divided into 8 Branches

● Make the patient healthy

What is Panchkarma?

“PANCHKARMA” is a “SHODHANA PRADHANA” CHIKITSA – a unique concept of Ayurvedic science, which consists of the five processes, namely :
• VAMAN (Emesis)
• VIRECHANA (Purgation)
• BASTI (Medicated enema)
• NASYA
• RAKTAMOKSHANA

Following are two types of treatment in Ayurveda.

SHAMAN CHIKITSA (Palliative therapy)

Various internal medicines are administered for bringing “Tridoshas” in equilibrium. This therapy has certain limitations too.

SHODHANA CHIKITSA (Panchkarma therapy)

Elimination of vitiated doshas & accumulated wastes from any rout of the body by ‘PANCHKARMA’ therapy.
